One of Denmark’s best-known business families is establishing a platform to invest in and develop companies operating across the defence sector.

Bagger-Sørensen Equity, the investment arm of the Bagger-Sørensen Family Office, has launched Alkeon, a new platform aimed at strengthening Danish and European defence industry capabilities.

According to Ole Kastrup Bridal, chief investment officer of Bagger-Sørensen Equity, Europe faces a historic challenge in rebuilding and expanding its defence industrial base.

- Increased defence spending alone will not deliver stronger military capability. Industry, supply chains and technological expertise are needed to translate investment into operational effect, said Bridal.

- Through Alkeon, we aim to contribute to that development. The platform is designed to strengthen the industrial foundations on which future defence capabilities depend.

Bagger-Sørensen Equity invests in mature companies with growth potential through a strategy centred on active ownership, long-term development and industrial expertise. In 2026, its portfolio companies are expected to generate combined revenue of DKK 2.5 billion and employ approximately 1,250 people.

Alkeon is intended to bridge the gap between military operational requirements and the industrial capabilities needed to support them.

The platform will focus on manufacturing, engineering, support and maintenance activities for demanding defence environments, drawing on both Bagger-Sørensen Equity’s existing portfolio companies and partnerships with Danish and international industry stakeholders.

The platform pursues active value creation through capital investment, industrial collaboration and operational development, with the aim of building relevant and scalable defence capabilities.

Alkeon is already involved in several defence-related projects, many of which are at an advanced stage of development.

The initiatives are being pursued with international industry partners, original equipment manufacturers and national defence stakeholders, spanning areas from logistics solutions to weapons systems and ammunition production.

To support the expansion of its defence activities, Bagger-Sørensen Equity is establishing a dedicated management structure around Alkeon. Martin Rasmussen has been appointed chief executive officer and will lead the platform’s next phase of development.

Rasmussen joins from a senior leadership role at the NATO Communications and Information Agency and previously held leadership positions at the LEGO Group. He will assume the role on 15 August 2026.
